Happy Friday! Things have been good around here lately. I (finally) unpacked after a great 6 days in Wisconsin for the holiday. We spent Thanksgiving day at my brother and sister in law’s house and my spatchcocked turkey turned out well (despite smoking up the kitchen and turning the place into a rave) and I’ll update that post with pictures soon and instructions on how to not turn the place into a rave. Finished product below.
Oliver is at such a fun age right now. His favorite thing to do is to babble loudly and stand while propping him up. I can’t believe how big he’s getting. Already gone up ANOTHER size in diapers! (*tear!)
And all of the sudden, almost overnight, he’s interested in toys. I brought him to a Mommy & Me class at the library and they passed out this leather rattle with jingle bells on the end of it and he was shaking it like crazy and stuffingΒ it into his mouth. It was so amazing to see him engaged with the class, as opposed to sleeping through it which he would do in his first few weeks! I totally wanted to steal that rattle.
Sleep, is, well, still rough.Β I mentioned once that heΒ slept through the night after doing a week of cry-it-out which felt SO good, but that only lasted about two nights before we regressed again. We got totally off schedule with travel, and lately he’s been getting up like clockwork every night at 2:45am in the morning, no matter how much I feed him before bed. The kid is like a Houdini and busts out of his double swaddle (Miracle Blanket plus Aden + Anais on top) every night. I swear I need to Saran Wrap him after swaddling (just kidding). But maybe I should invest in a better swaddler. I am desperate for a good night’s rest and am willing to try anything to make that happen. Advice anyone?
I’ve also entertained twice in the past week which makes me feel more like a normal person and am learning to embrace the art of simple cooking, i.e., season anything with salt and pepper and shove it in the oven. And as you can see from my Instagram, I started decorating the house for Christmas, which is my all time favorite thing to do.Β Hopefully if I can clean things up a bit I can take pictures and post a little holiday house tour.
Hope you have a joyful and restful weekend.
xoxo,
