I have to admit being a new mom is absolutely exhausting but I am loving every minute of it. I’ve decided to include more lifestyle posts here on the blog and since I have baby on the brain, here are the top 25 products for mom and baby that have SAVED me the past three weeks:
.Β Aden + Anais Snap Bibs: If there’s one thing I’ve learned since having a baby, it’s that newborns barf, spit up, and spittle A LOT which necessitates an outfit change every 15 minutes if the babe isn’t wearing a bib. I love these soft and sweet snap bibs which have no Velcro so they don’t ruin anything in the wash.
.Β Aden + Anais Burpy Bibs: My burp cloth of choice! Absolutely perfect for breastfeeding – its curved shape makes it ideal for placing just underneath the breast while nursing and for throwing over your shoulder while burping. I wish I had a dozen of them!
.Β Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets: Swaddle blankets are a must have for newborns! He’s like, “waaa, waaa, waaa” and the second we wrap him up in one of these things he’s content. I love the texture and sweet patterns of the “Liam the Brave” ones. I learned how to swaddle through the illustrations in this book which was gifted to me by a friend (thank god!). These are also great for use as a nursing cover.
.Β UPPAbaby Vista Stroller: I purchased this stroller secondhand and I’m obsessed! It has a huge basket which is awesome for on-the-go grocery shopping and enormous wheels which will be great for wintertime in Chicago. I love snuggling him into the bassinet attachment which has such a British “pram” feel to it. Get the cup holder to go with it.
.Β Fisher Price Rock n’ Play Sleeper: This is what Bubba sleeps in next to our bed at night, essentially functioning as his bassinet until we are ready to move him to his crib. I love that it is lightweight and folds up easily, making it easy to move around the room and store away during the day when we’re not using it. I recommend getting the Summer Infant Snuzzler to go with it for newborns (see #7). Added plus: it vibrates! Bubba loves it.
.Β 4moms Mamaroo Swing: I almost cried when I received this gift from my sister and brother-in-law. Every new mom deserves one. I’m a big believer in holding your baby as much as possible but a girl’s gotta take a shower and cook dinner! We call it his “magic chair.” I love the built-in noise machine, the sleek design, and the ability to change the speed of the movements. I didn’t bother getting the Mamaroo newborn plush insert because I just use the Summer Infant Snuzzler or his Land of Nod blanket to snuggle him in there (see #7 and #8).
.Β Summer Infant Snuzzler:Β Perfect for use in his Rock and Play, Mamaroo, and the UppaBaby stroller bassinet attachment for extra support for his tiny little body. I would not recommend this for use in a carseat though as I’ve read it’s unsafe. It doesn’t look quite the same once it’s gone through the wash but it works just the same.
.Β Land of Nod Cuddle Me Softly Blanket: I received this as a gift from a friend and I had no idea how much I’d love it! It is the SOFTEST blanket and the perfect weight. I use it as a blanket for nursing, as a coverlet “sheet” in the Rock n’ Play and the Mamaroo, and bunched up as a headrest in the UppaBaby bassinet attachment. I love that it washes and dries without losing its shape or texture. I want to get it in more colors!
.Β Solly Baby Wrap: The most lightweight soft carrier available in the most adorable colors. Perfect for hikes and those times that baby does not want to be in his bassinet or magic chair and just wants to be held. I can’t wait for their new fall line to come out on Monday!
.Β Burt’s Bees Diaper Cream: The thickest and sweetest smelling diaper cream. Mr. Peaches is obsessed with it.
.Β Oxo Wipes Dispenser: We keep this hidden in a drawer in our changing table dresser. Makes it a lot easier to quickly get wipes rather than using the plastic packages they come in.
.Β Skip Hop Diaper Bag in French Stripe: A large but not too-large diaper bag in an adorable gray and white stripe pattern that has been perfect for summer. I also have it in theΒ clutch versionΒ for quick errands. Wipes up easily and I love that it comes with a large changing pad for on-the-go diaper changes.
.Β Puj Tub: I LOVE this thing! A super lightweight insert that fits perfectly into my bathroom sink. I don’t plan on bathing in the tub until I absolutely have to. When bathtime is done and I have a wet wiggly baby in one arm, I can easily store the tub away with the other arm. Plus, it’s not an eyesore!
.Β MAM Pacifiers: Get multiples of these! Bubba has never had any sort of nipple confusion so I have no problem giving him a binky when he needs help soothing. I also like the Wubbanub pacifiers which have little animals attached to them so they stay put more easily.
.Β Bravado Seamless Nursing Bra: The most comfortable nursing bra I’ve tried.
.Β Target Lace Trim Boyshorts: Comfy boyshort undies that make post-partum momma feel the slightest bit sexy.
.Β Zella Live-In Leggings: The new mom jeans. Snagged these for $30 during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have never looked back. They just hold everything in the right place. I literally live in them!
.Β Nike Free Sneakers: I love wearing these with the aforementioned leggings for stroller walks around the neighborhood. Sporty and sleek!
.Β Simple Wishes Hands-Free Breastpump Bra: An absolute must-have if you plan on pumping. Allows me to work on the computer or read while pumping.
.Β Medela Quick Clean Micro Steam Bags: Perfect for quickly sterilizing breast pump parts and pacifiers without having to wait for the dishwasher to finish. Each bag can be used 20 times.
.Β Smooth Move Laxative Tea: Yep, I’m including this as an essential too and you’ll thank me for it. An all-natural and good-tasting way to keep things moving comfortably when you need it most post-birth.
.Β Naked Coconut Water: So hydrating and refreshing! Bring a couple containers to the hospital. I love taking a big swig of coconut water to rehydrate after a long nursing session, and the taste of this particular brand is my favorite.
.Β Hail Merry Tarts: One-handed eating has taken on a new meaning since having a baby. I love these yummy tarts made with coconut oil as a midday treat and my favorite flavors are Meyer Lemon and Persian Lime. Find them in the bakery section of Whole Foods.
.Β Honest Detergent and 25.Β Honest Dryer Cloths: Bubba has super sensitive skin and has developed newborn erythema, so I try my best to reduce his exposure to products with added fragrances and dyes. I feel good knowing that the Honest laundry products will do the job and won’t further irritate his skin. I also like using Charlie’s Soap PowderΒ and Tide Free and Gentle.
Hope this helps all new mommas-to-be out there!
